As soon as I turned this on, my neighbors called to tell me there was a helicopter in my kitchen. The video doesn’t show how the noise from this thing’s compressor makes my floors shake. I don’t see how I can hold on to this. It’s EXTREMELY loud. Use-friendly. Nice ice. When it’s on, it sounds like a freight train and doesn’t stop. Edit: When I called customer service, they told me to send it back because it was broken. Will let you know when the new one comes in. 2: Yesterday, a new unit arrived. According to the instructions, it needs to stand up for 24 hours before it can be plugged in, so I waited. The new one is SUCH a quiet one. Not much louder than a small fan. Note: Three pieces of fiberglass tape hold the unit together while it’s being shipped. Two hold the basket in place, but there is a third one up in the back where the ice is made that you also need to take out. I think you should do it before you plug it in. But I absolutely LOVE this replacement!

It’s funny that, even though I grew up in the cold north, I never really thought of an ice maker as a must-have tool. I’ve learned how important an ice maker can be since I live in Phoenix, where the tap water is sometimes 100 degrees. A lot of ice goes through me. This tool takes a little time to get used to. For example, I’ve learned that I have to fill it every morning. If I do that, I can always have a steady flow of ice. I’ve learned that the machine works better if you cut a piece of Styrofoam to fit in the lid. I understand that this isn’t a freezer and won’t keep ice frozen. I’ve found that it runs less often because of the extra insulation. I do wish the bin was bigger, though. About a tan of water goes through this thing every day, and I’m the only one who uses it. If more than one person is going to use the ice from this, it probably won’t be very good for what you need. But if you only need ice for one thing or if you are the only one who uses it, I think it’s a great little gadget. The main problem, of course, is that a single step up in power will triple the price of the machine, so this is about as good as it’s going to get.

The ice machine works great. Like it says, it makes ice in 9 minutes. Does take up a bit of space on the counter. Is also a bit loud when making ice. If you don’t put the ice in the freezer, it will melt in the ice maker. Overall, it’s a great deal for the money and a very useful product. We won’t run out of ice anymore.
